During Fiscal Year 2008 BCH Gave: $7.2 million:
Payroll and benefits earned by your community hospital employees exceeded $7.3 million in 2008. The ripple effect of these dollars on our community translated into an additional $8.8 million in transactions throughout the area.
Bad Debt, $1.2 million:
Bad debt expense is cost incurred as a result of services provided to patients
from whom payment was expected but not received.
These patients do not qualify for charity or government programs.
Charity Care, $66,961:
BCH provides care for those in need regardless of their financial situation.
Despite the strain of expanding numbers of uninsured or underinsured patients,
BCH continues to provide free or reduced fee care.
Community Benefit Services, $34,000:
Community Benefit programs provide treatment and promote health in response
to identified community needs. These programs include medical and nursing education, free health screenings, free sports physicals, community health clinics, and chronic disease and wellness education.
And giving back to the community through our:
Healthcare Scholarships; Volunteer Clinic; Youth support through Benewah County Fair, school programs, and drug prevention education; and Support of local community and civic organizations through financial and personnel contributions.
