Position: Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist
Shift: Full-Time, Part-Time
Job Duties: Interpret physician’s orders and secure a requisition before performing test(s). Obtain the correct amount and type of specimen. Collect blood samples via venipuncture, heel stick or finger stick per established guidelines. Draw blood from patient’s finger, heel, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood sample. Conduct quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid. Perform blood counts. Perform testing in accordance with AABB standards for transfusion services. Complete appropriate routing, handling, and processing of medical specimens including stool, sputum, and throat cultures. Perform tests in an accurate and timely manner. Inform healthcare provider of lab results. Recognize abnormalities and/or irregularities in lab results and notify the healthcare provider immediately. Document all requests of lab work accurately. Perform daily startup, quality control and troubleshooting procedures as required. Order and stock supplies as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
- Two (2) years of experience as a Medical Technologist preferred, but not necessary
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT)
- MLT will be considered with appropriate certification and clinical experience
