Job Summary:

Would you like to work in a collaborative environment in a primarily outpatient setting located in a critical care rural hospital? Benewah Community Hospital is looking for physical therapist assistant. Our gym is well equipped and a fun place to work. Your choice of 5 x 8-hour days or 4 x 10-hour days with occasional weekend duty. Generous PTO program with up to 21 days off in first year and 40 days after 20 years. Job Duties: 

Assist the Physical Therapist with a patient’s rehabilitative activities. Work cooperatively with medical staff, case managers, social work, and adjustors. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field, and state regulations covering Physical Therapy. Rely on education, experience, and clinical judgement to accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Reports patient status to a physical therapist as well as report to a manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Assist physical therapists in delivering individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Administer manual exercises, massage, or traction to help relieve pain, increase patient strength, or decrease or prevent deformity or crippling.
  • Instruct patients and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient’s chart or enter information into computer.
  • Test and measure patient’s strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and record data.
  • Administer treatment involving the application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, laser, electrical stimulation, underwater treadmill, and ultrasound machine.
  • Construct maintain and repair medical supportive devices.
  • Direct group rehabilitation activities.

Qualifications: 

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program and eligible for Idaho Physical Therapist Assistant License.
